Wow...what does a 'religious spirit' have to do with prayer? Or praying for leaders? Well..you just might be surprised! Leaders, and those praying for leaders, need to be especially aware of minimizing what we are doing. I can't tell you the number of times I used to describe myself as ' I was just an intercessor' or 'I'm just'... Altho it sounded humble and holy, it wasn't. I was being effected by a religious spirit, and it was blinding me to my authority in God when I prayed. More times than I can tell you, I would be warring with the sense that what I was doing WAS important, but at the same time feeling like to admit that was sinful - being full of pride . Those thoughts would lead me to the next thoughts that I was ' nothing special' and ' I don't make any difference when I pray.' Now sometimes that can sound very humble, right?? WRONG!! Show me any where in the Bible where it says that when we pray we are ineffective? Show

Kristen...if you're out there...I'm sorry it's taken so long to answer your question...but here's something that may help. If you are wanting to start a Prayer Shield for a leader -that's AWESOME! The more prayer coverage we can get for our leader's and pastor's ( and yes, those in market place ministry or are serving in any place of influence for the Kingdom), the better! Now..my first suggestion would be to talk to the Leader/pastor that you are wanting to pray for. That may seem simplistic, but if they haven't asked for a prayer shield, or don't know what one is, you really need to talk to them. The idea behind a prayer shield is that you want to make sure it's meeting their needs - not just our desire to pray. I've seen prayer people who want to 'cover' a leader, but they do it 'their way'..and it doesn't work for the leader. Well,....it seems I've been off line for a while, but I'm back. Hopefully writing on a few things that will encourage those that are checking in now and then, to see if there's anything new posted. Over the next few weeks, I want to start posting on some different ways to pray for Leaders, as well as a couple of different models of Prayer Shields. I love praying for Leaders and one of the passions of my life is get more and more them covered by intercessory prayer and by established prayer shields.
