How do I use a Prayer Shield?

The most common question I get asked is, "How does it work?" or " How would I use a Prayer Shield?" Many leaders would like to have intercessors praying for them, but they don’t know how to mobilize them, or after they have mobilized them, how to communicate with them. Hopefully training up someone to take on the role of Co-ordinator will help you in that, but you still need to know how to work with your co-ordinator so that he/she can get your prayer requests out to your team. Please make sure you feel comfortable with your co-ordinator editing your requests – sometime less is more! REMEMBER : These should be intercessors that you can TRUST with details. If you'd be worried about 'them' knowing details – then they are not the ones to ask. Your personal Prayer Shield needs to be ones you feel confident in. KEEP IT SIMPLE - requests that can be kept to one page, so that your Intercessors can keep it in their bible, or on their fridge - this helps th

Different Types of Prayer Partners/Intercessors

It's important for you to realise that there are many different types of prayer partners/intercessors. Just as there are many different styles of prayer! It's important as you are looking at possibly working with a prayer shield, that you know the difference between the different 'callings' on Intercessors. While there are often references to 'pastors' in much of this, all my information is applicable to leaders in any sphere of influence: business, goverment, education, media etc. Once again, if you are taking ground for the Kingdom, in whatever sphere of influence that the Lord has given you - it's more than likely that you need to consider working with a prayer Shield. Different Types of Prayer Partners While we are specifically looking at Prayer Shields, I want to explain the difference between what a Prayer Shield is, and other types of Prayer Partner's you, as a leader, may have. 1.. Priority One – Personal Prayer Shield: This is what we are ai

How Much Intercession do you need?

There are times you need to add to your prayer shield list. Here are several indicators that you do not have enough prayer coverage and need to mobilize more intercessors. 1.You and/or your family are getting hit with physical or mental anguish on a regular basis. 2. Your intercessors indicate that they are being attacked on a regular basis, or are losing quite a bit of sleep keeping you covered in prayer. *Since they are the ‘heat absorbers’ for the fiery darts coming at you, this indicates that the warfare has been stepped up and you need to add more strength to the prayer coverage. 3.The situations in your life do change when you are under attack, but only after long laborious battles. You need more intercession to pierce the darkness coming against you. 4.Your responsibilities have increased and/or your sphere of influence has increased. eg. Public ministry, regional or international traveling, speaking engagements etc. Many ministries or leaders in business, make a fatal mist

How to Get Started...

GETTING STARTED 1.ASK…the first step is to pray and ask the Lord to show you those that pray on your behalf. 2.SEEK…make a list of or make note of, those whom you feel might pray for you on a regular basis. (Notice that some people will say to you at church “I’m praying for you.” but what does that mean? It can be the Christian version of “ We should do lunch sometime!” ) Take time to ask some of them what they are hearing from the Lord when they are praying for you. Make note of the ones you get a 'sense' are really on track with you spiritually and whose hearing seems to be clear and sharp. If you are in ministry , God has already set aside some who are praying for you. Mobilizing them for effective intercession is usually a simple matter of recognizing what God has already done. 3.KNOCK….Now you can ask those who you feel God has brought to your heart, if they would be willing to be contacted to be a part of to be your personal intercessors or prayer shield OR your Prayer S

Dear Pam,

Dear Pam, I am so excited that you are heading to Breakforth with Brian to do this seminar. I'm sure that Brian will attest to how much this ministry has impacted him and his family! As you know, I have had a few dramatic times when we have emailed out that I was "going under" with stuff and I have felt the heaviness lift off. Hallelujah! In general, I have to say that having a prayer shield has brought a new level of "connectedness" with the larger Body. We don't feel so alone in ministry and it is wonderful (although humbling) to know that people are committed to pray for us and our family. Another side benefit of staying in touch with a prayer shield has been taking time monthly (sometime more frequently) to actually pause, reflect and discern what is going on in our lives (personally and in ministry). It has been a huge encouragement to look at previous updates and see how God has answered our prayers and has protected and pr

We've been completely blessed and strengthened by our prayer shield. It's great to know that you have people praying for you. When there are things going on that we are road blocked, or perplexed about, we have had tremendous support from our team with insight from the Lord. It can be hard to see things or hear from God when you are 'under it', so to have people that you trust and regularly pray for you input into the situation - it's been liberating and fantastic. Prayer shields are a definite must for all leaders. " R & J Smith - founders/senior leaders Junctionj.community

About me

God called me into prayer in 1994, while attending an amazing gathering of people in Whistler BC, Canada - called, by the way, ' The Gathering.' There God gave me a vision of His presence wanting to come and sweep through the Valley we live in touching every church every leader & pastor and every congregation. For someone who had never really prayed before - except when a crisis arose - THAT was a pretty daunting vision. He graciously brought many other amazing women around me who also felt called to pray for those in church Leadership. That has led to my participation and leadership of a City Prayer group that has been praying every Tuesday for almost 15 years for all the pastors and leaders of our city. Then about 10 years ago God began to speak to me about getting our Pastor's and Leader's better covered in prayer. I began to learn about and pray into Prayer Shields. Now one of my major passions, next to church unity, is to see every leader/pastor and their famil

Why a Prayer Shield...?

Do you like war movies? I do – love 'em ! When I watch them, I get LOTS of symbolism out of them. Whenever the good guys were taking more ground, or higher ground, always you'd hear one of them (usually the leader, who was coming out into the open) say, “ Cover me”... Even the world knows that when your 'out there' taking territory – you need someone to cover your back ! That's a Prayer Shield! Stacey Elderidge says, “ We weren't born into Eden....we have been born into a world at War. “ The reality is, you have an enemy and the enemy hates you – you know why? You are doing what he gave up – relationship with the Father, being in His presence, knowing His voice, loving, serving and worshiping the king. You are now doing what he used to..and he is working 24/7 to find ways to shut you up, discourage you, and stop your purpose. Not to scare you..but we have to be realistic. Who needs a prayer shield?

Whether you are a pastor / leader in a local church, or an influencer for the Kingdom in areas of business , finances , government , family , media / arts or education - you need to be getting prayer coverage. Anyone, who is taking ground for, and influencing their area of vision/service, for the Kingdom - needs to getting proper, consistent and intentional prayer coverage.
