New Years Resolutions Ok so I'm not the biggest fan of 'new year resolutions'. They tend to be mostly about losing weight, joining a gym.. having more consistent devotions or keeping your house clean. All good stuff I suppose, but then why is it that statistics show that we most of those resolutions are broken within 4-6 weeks. Could it be that there is something else we should be focusing on? Could there be some deeper or hidden issues that are at the root of why we can't keep those resolutions? Something to think about. Last night I got to participate in one of the BEST ways to establish the New Year, that I have done in years! It was a 'Forgivness' Ritual - or some might call it a prophetic act. Honor

Friday Food for Thought: Honor.... There are different ways I see 'honor' happening around me. Today I got to see two of those ways. Both impacted me on a deeply personal level! It's a cloudy Friday in December and my husband and I went to the hospital to pray for someone from our church who had a stroke over Christmas. It is always a honor and priviledge to get to pray with people in these times. It's hard to explain the honor that is given to you as pastors, that a family would trust you in such a way, as to let you 'in' to such a personal and private time - and today we were honored in such a way. We had gone a couple of days previously.. and the Lord had told me to 'sing' over this wonderful woman of faith. I knew I had read somewhere that often people who have had strokes .. or dementia - brain issues - will often have trouble speaking but they will not have trouble singing. So.. Prayer Shield set up!

Recently I worked with a leader who had originally been 'working' his prayer shield with a lot of success, but something changed in the past year.  I had noticed that less and less prayer needs were being sent out to his 'team' and eventually in the last 6 months almost nothing was going out to his prayer team at all!  Hmmm... something was definitely not right! As I began to look more deeply into his prayer shield, I began to see that it was 'top heavy' with intercessors that were made up of people and leaders from his church. That might not seem to be a problem except in the the last 12-18 months, his church began to experience some relational and leadership issues.. As these things were coming up, it made relaying information to his prayer shield feel 'unsafe' .
