Dear Pam, I am so excited that you are heading to Breakforth with Brian to do this seminar. I'm sure that Brian will attest to how much this ministry has impacted him and his family! As you know, I have had a few dramatic times when we have emailed out that I was "going under" with stuff and I have felt the heaviness lift off. Hallelujah! In general, I have to say that having a prayer shield has brought a new level of "connectedness" with the larger Body. We don't feel so alone in ministry and it is wonderful (although humbling) to know that people are committed to pray for us and our family. We've been completely blessed and strengthened by our prayer shield. It's great to know that you have people praying for you. God called me into prayer in 1994, while attending an amazing gathering of people in Whistler BC, Canada - called, by the way, ' The Gathering.' There God gave me a vision of His presence wanting to come and sweep through the Valley we live in touching every church every leader & pastor and every congregation. For someone who had never really prayed before - except when a crisis arose - THAT was a pretty daunting vision. He graciously brought many other amazing women around me who also felt called to pray for those in church Leadership. That has led to my participation and leadership of a City Prayer group that has been praying every Tuesday for almost 15 years for all the pastors and leaders of our city. Do you like war movies? I do – love 'em ! When I watch them, I get LOTS of symbolism out of them. Whenever the good guys were taking more ground, or higher ground, always you'd hear one of them (usually the leader, who was coming out into the open) say, “ Cover me”... Even the world knows that when your 'out there' taking territory – you need someone to cover your back ! That's a Prayer Shield! Stacey Elderidge says, “ We weren't born into Eden....we have been born into a world at War. “ The reality is, you have an enemy and the enemy hates you – you know why? You are doing what he gave up – relationship with the Father, being in His presence, knowing His voice, loving, serving and worshiping the king. Anyone, who is taking ground for, and influencing their area of vision/service, for the Kingdom - needs to getting proper, consistent and intentional prayer coverage.
